Meridian Quick Start: A Source-First Research Workflow

Navigate supported views, verify timestamps, and use aggregate signals without turning them into trade rules

TL;DR

Start with a research question, open the relevant source view, verify the original record and timestamp, then compare independent evidence. Meridian scores organize research; they do not predict returns or prescribe trades.

Start With the Research Question

Decide what you are trying to learn before opening a dashboard. Examples include whether reported insider activity changed, whether institutions disclosed a new holding, or whether off-exchange activity differs from its recent history. A clear question makes it easier to separate useful records from noise.

Choose the Relevant View

  • Congress (/congress) shows STOCK Act disclosures and their reported details.
  • Insiders (/insiders) shows Form 4 activity.
  • Institutions (/institutions) organizes reported institutional holdings.
  • Dark Pool (/darkpool) presents source-native off-exchange metrics.
  • Active ETF (/active-etf) presents supported fund disclosures.
  • Confluence (/confluence) brings available source categories together for comparison.
  • Knowledge Hub (/knowledge) explains source definitions and limitations.

Verify Provenance and Time

Open the source detail behind a card. Check the event date, filing or collection date, update timestamp, units, and availability state. Do not treat the page-request time as the source timestamp. If a required source is unavailable, the honest conclusion is that the evidence is incomplete.

Read Aggregate Scores Carefully

Scores help order a research queue. They do not predict returns or prescribe trades. Review which sources contributed, whether they are independent, and whether any opposing or missing evidence changes the interpretation.

Use the API Contract, Not Page Assumptions

The developer page documents supported sample and full-data routes. Copy the canonical URL and response shape from the current discovery contract. Unsupported or retired datasets should return an explicit unavailable or absent response rather than a stale success.

A Practical Review Loop

  1. Select a ticker or question.
  2. Inspect the most relevant source page.
  3. Verify the original record and timestamp.
  4. Compare other independent sources without assuming agreement.
  5. Add business fundamentals, valuation, liquidity, and risk context.
  6. Record uncertainty and evidence that would change your view.
